The food has been consistently good and small town hospitality. In a historical setting of Courtney - Huntsville just across the Yadkin river.

Food is very good and service is okay depending on how busy they are. Our favorite is breakfast and they have the best western omelet and biscuits and sausage gravy. My son loves their cheeseburgers with pimento cheese. They even have prime rib on weekends, but they will not serve it rare or medium rare for some reason. So i haven't tried it.

Love me some Battle Branch. Cozy environment and yummy food. Nothing beats country cooking!

We saw this place on our travels as we were exploring the area. We quickly looked online and saw that it had great reviews, so, we added it as a bookmark. It was a Sunday and we've noticed that restaurant options are more limited on Sunday mornings so we decided it was a good time to head over to Battle Branch. A bit of history, Battle Branch Café is located in Huntsville, NC. Huntsville is a small unincorporated community in Yadkin County, NC which has been the location of both Revolutionary War activity and a Civil War skirmish because of it's location to the "Shallow Ford" across the Yadkin river. The large gravel parking lot has a North Carolina Civil War Trails interpretive marker located on the edge near the road. We parked and walked up the short ramp to the front porch. Inside, most of the tables were occupied at the front of the restaurant and we were offered a table near the back. Their motif is based on the Revolutionary war activity in the area with décor to match. We were offered drinks and provided menus. We quickly noticed the menu featured breakfast items which we had not totally expected. My wife decided on the blueberry pancakes with bacon and I chose the sausage, egg and cheese sandwich with homestyle hashbrowns. Our meals arrived in a timely fashion. My wife was disappointed to see that the blueberries consisted of a jelly type mixture and not fresh blueberries. My sandwich was tasty. Overall this was a pretty cool stop. The area is beautiful and the history is really interesting. We did not get a chance to try their lunch menu and will be back at some point to check that out. We have to say that while the offerings are simple and not extensive the prices are beyond reasonable.

Google directed me 5 miles off of NC-421 to this pleasant little cafe. I'm really happy it did. Cute building outside surrounded by mature trees and cute inside with a cathedral ceiling and wood paneling. Had an outstanding traditional country breakfast and the menu has items for the those of smaller appetite. This restaurant was a really great find.

I found this little place one random day while taking a scenic route back to the highway. I made sure to note it on Yelp so I could go back and today was the day! We got there too late to try breakfast, but lunch was really yummy. I had the chicken pie which was a special that day. It was white meat chicken with a yummy gravy served with a homemade crust on top. Plenty of chicken and gravy! I seasoned it a little more for my taste. I do wish it had some other veggies in it but the flaky crust was perfect. My sides, cucumber salad and fried squash were yummy. The fried squash had a nice light crust. When I heard all the desserts are homemade, I had to try the apple pie. It was good with plenty of apples and a flaky crust. I felt it was missing some cinnamon and a little more sweetness for my taste. They had quite a few cakes on the menu and I'd love to come try more of them on a future. I'll be back Battle Branch!

My only complaint about this place is the location - it is an 11 hour and 19 minute drive from home. I don't know that I'd make an 11 hour drive just to eat here, but the food and the experience are certainly worth hopping in the car and heading this way if you're looking for destination on a 45 minute to 60 minute road trip. There were soooo many delicious-sounding choices on the menu that I asked the waitress to pretend that her favorite cousin had just come to the restaurant for the first time, and then asked her to serve me whatever she would serve her favorite cousin. All I can say is Connie (our waitress) must REALLY like her favorite cousin ( as I think about it, considering how much my girlfriend liked her meal, how good the food being served to folks around us looked, and the way everyone in the restaurant was treated... there's a good chance these folks treat every customer like their favorite cousin).
